YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!

November is Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Manitoba and Agape House-Eastman Crisis Centre needs your support.  Despite many years of diligent work in our region, issues contributing to violence against women and children persist.  We know that abuse occurs in all cultures and across all economic groups.  However, there is great denial and shame surrounding abuse, and this prevents many women from reaching out for help, or even telling those close to them about the abuse.  Agape House needs your help!

WHO IS AGAPE HOUSE?
Agape House is a registered Canadian charity with an independent volunteer Board of Directors, and we serve women and children in Southeast Manitoba who are dealing with family abuse and violence.  Since 1985, thousands of clients have benefited from the supports and programs we offer.  Many of the women and children we see in shelter face multiple challenges – mental, physical, and psychological abuses, for example.  More often than not, we see complex situations where addictions, lack of emotional supports, housing, transportation, general health, and mental health are factors.  All Agape House services are offered at no cost to our clients.

MORE THAN EMERGENCY SHELTER
In addition to our in-shelter services for women and children did you know that:
    – We operate a 24-hour crisis line with over 1,000 calls per year?
    – We perform education and outreach with children and adults to help prevent violence?
    – We are certified to provide customizable Anger Solutions training?
    – We offer Artistic Connections for groups?
    – We offer short-term subsidized housing for women after they leave shelter?

YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!
Agape House’s mission is to empower women and children to live enriched lives free of abuse.  Without community donations, we would not have the resources to sustain this important work.  This November please help us address domestic violence by donating to Agape House.  All donations receive charitable tax receipts by mail.

Thank you for your generosity – your contribution will make a difference for women and children affected by violence in the months ahead.  We encourage you to visit our web site often for information on abuse, to see what is new at our shelter, and to learn what items are needed by our clients.

Sincerely,
The Staff and Board of Directors, Agape House-Eastman Crisis Centre, Inc.
